A Carl Zeiss teaching eyepiece adapter. The central eyepiece fits into the standard eyetube of any monocular microscope. It has a pointer system that can be introduced into the field of view and mov ed to point out specific parts of the slide being studied. On the end of the side tube is a second eyepiece which has independent focusing which ensures the image is in focus for both observers. Date from approximately 1950 but still works perfectly.

The microscope has Zeiss Plan-Neofluar infinity corrected objectives with a parfocal distance of 44mm which is the standard still currently used by Zeiss. Six position. Turret with positive indexing. These lenses are renowned for their excellent light transmission, colour correction and low internal strain. The condenser has a flip top lens to ensure full field of view illumination with the x2.5 and x5 x10, x20, x40 and x100( oil immerion) objectives.
The eyepieces are Plan x10 suitable for spectacle wearers and with integral rubber eyecups.
Full mechanical stage with extra long drop down coaxial controls and double vernier scale. The base has the usual push-button filters featuring an internal neutral density (ND) filter. This allows dimming of the 100 watt lamp for comfortable viewing without changing the colour temperature of the light .The halogen lighting is from a back box with a 12v 100 watt lamp with full brightness control. Full Kohler illumination. There is an polarising analyser filter for the slot immediately above the objective turret and a polarising filter that sits on the light source.
There is a modern HDMI camera that fits via a C-mount adapter to the trinocular tube and the microscope image can be 100% to the binocular eyetubes or 100% to the camera or shared. The camera can be directly attached to a monitor or TV via its HDMI lead which is supplied. It can also be attached to a PC of Windows laptop using the software supplied via download.
A fine microscope which has been used in a research facility and the stage does show marks from the constant adding and removal of slides as would be expected. Over the years we have not seen many of these and none with this level of specification.
